Trusted by Jacksonville pet families since 1988. Supporting families through unexpected hardship since the fund's creation.
What Is the Angel Fund
The Angel Fund is our in-house financial assistance program for pet families in Jacksonville facing unexpected hardship. It exists for the moment when a pet needs care and the cost of that care would otherwise be out of reach.
This isn't insurance, and it isn't a loan. It's a resource built by this practice, for the families we serve, to help close the gap when it matters most. We believe that a temporary financial setback shouldn't determine whether a pet gets the care they need, and the Angel Fund is one way we try to make that true in practice, not just in principle.
The fund reflects something core to how SJB operates. We've built a practice around long-term relationships rather than transactional visits, and that philosophy extends to how we think about the families going through a hard stretch financially. A client of many years facing a job loss, or a family managing an unexpected medical crisis of their own, shouldn't have to choose between that hardship and their pet's health.
Who the Fund Is For
Families facing a sudden, unexpected veterinary cost that falls outside what they can currently afford, particularly when the need is urgent and doesn't leave time to save up.
Long-time clients going through a temporary hardship, such as job loss, a medical emergency in the family, or another financial disruption that wasn't part of the plan.
Pet owners who would otherwise have to choose between necessary care and their household budget, especially when the alternative is delaying care that could get more serious and more expensive the longer it waits.
Military families dealing with the financial strain that can come with deployment, a PCS move, or a reduction in household income during a transition.

Why SJB's Imaging Is Different
- On-site digital equipment. Full-body and dental X-ray plus ultrasound handled in our building. No referral to an outside imaging center for routine cases.
- AI-assisted radiology + board-certified radiologist reads. Speed plus specialist accuracy.
- Same-visit imaging. Imaging happens during the exam, not at a separate appointment. Findings inform the treatment plan before you leave.
- Ultrasound-guided procedures. Cystocentesis, fine needle aspirates, and other guided procedures use ultrasound for precision and safety.
- Dental X-rays as part of routine dental care. Full-mouth dental imaging is standard for our dental procedures, not an upsell.
- Digital records. Images are stored digitally and shareable with specialists or new vets if needed.
